Helena is a physiotherapist who started the path to her career in her hometown of Waterloo. She completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2015 at Wilfrid Laurier University, and then went on to Hamilton to further her studies with an MSc in Physiotherapy at McMaster University. Some of her placements and volunteering allowed her to travel and work outside of Ontario, including Vancouver, B.C and Belgrade, Serbia. After graduating and becoming a registered physiotherapist, she began working as an orthopedic therapist where she treated patients suffering from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. While she enjoyed every minute of it, she knew that she had a keen interest in women’s health and decided to complete courses specific to pelvic health physiotherapy. Now she enjoys working with patients who are looking for help in areas of physiotherapy related to a person’s pelvic floor. Often patients who come to her are unsure of pelvic physiotherapy and what it entails, but Helena loves to walk a patient through the entire pelvic program and explain just how it can benefit each individual. She adjusts her treatment sessions so each is specific to the individual’s own pace toward the road to recovery. After the first assessment with Helena, you will feel much better about pelvic health physiotherapy and how it can help! Outside of work, Helena spends most of her time with her husband and her two little kids. Anything to do with a beach, music, or dancing, is always on the agenda!
